Deforestation
Find out how deforestation can be caused, where it is most likely to occur and ways you can prevent the levels from increasing.

What causes deforestation?
Trees are mainly cut down for the use of timber. The branch is cut down and refined into logs using a range of different machines. From here, they get transported to factories around the world for different uses.

Sometimes, trees are cut down for the wrong reasons, one of these reasons can be for the development of housing or farming. An estimated amount of trees in the area will be cut to make space for a huge construction project.

Recreational logging and using logs for agricultural needs is also another cause for concern. People will create stacks of logs when they don't need them at all.

Replacing parts of huge forest or jungle with palm plantations is a recurring theme in the modern world too, businesses will take advantage of these vast expanses to make profit.

Where is it most likely to occur?
Deforestation can happen pretty much anywhere around the world, expect it to occur mostly where trees are growing in abundance like a forest, jungle or an overgrown area that has been abandoned.

Countries that supply a huge number of raw materials like timber, printer paper, coffee and more that can be extracted using a chopped or dead tree.

Some of the countries where extreme levels of deforestation take place are places like Brazil, Australia, Nigeria, North Korea as well as others.

Countries that turn trees into logs constantly for the use of building cabin logs and bridges. A huge influence is North America where the consumption of daily logging can take a toll on the ecology in those areas.

How do I stop the the levels from increasing?
Well, you can start by recycling more materials like paper and glass. Recycling will help more trees being cut down as the recycling materials will prove to be re-usable and this allows the same product to be used more than once.

Another solution is upcycling, which is the same concept as recycling but for other materials like furniture or clothing. You can find a new use for old, un-usable items and turn them into something new and give it a new life.

Reducing the consumption of paper is another good way to help decrease the high levels in some of those countries where trees are vulnerable. You can switch to a digital device to do whatever you would need paper for, stop printing in bulk and send emails instead of printed letters.
